Unfortunately, her father was against their relationship and ordered to have Vyr killed. Synya was utterly devastated by his loss that she cried and cried until her tears filled a portion of the land. Thus, Synevyr Lake was formed.

• Sofiyivsky Park

That’s because of the park’s back story. A member of Polish nobility had the park made as a birthday present to his wife, none other than the controversial Zofia Potocka.

The park’s theme and landscape pays tribute to Zofia’s Greek ancestry. In fact, there are areas in the park that were inspired by places in Homer’s Odyssey and Iliad. But what really makes this park a masterpiece is its transformation. Before it was built, the entire land was completely underdeveloped. It was through the supervision of military engineer Ludwik Metzel that the park was completely transformed into the masterpiece it is today.

• Askania-Nova Nature Reserve

• Uzhgorod Castle

While Europe has plenty of castles, this one is the oldest among all of them. Built in the 13th century, this castle has withstood the forces of Hungary. It was owned by the Druget family for many centuries and parts of it were changed or improved with each generation. Because of these enhancements, the structure of the castle remained mostly intact.
